Exhibition: The Howarth-Wright at 25
Running from Tuesday, September 23 to November 11, The Howarth-Wright at 25 exhibition explores the Daniels Faculty’s Howarth-Wright Graduate Fellowship, now in it’s 25th year. Established in 2000 through a generous donation by professor emeritus and former dean Dr. Thomas Howarth, the fellowship has enabled Master of Architecture students to engage in research related to the celebrated and sometimes controversial American architect, Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959).
The exhibition consists of research projects on Wright by fellowship recipients, information on Howarth and Wright, and items – furniture, books, newspaper articles, posters, and souvenirs – that explore Wright’s creativity and complicated legacy as a teacher and “organic architect.”
The Howarth-Wright has provided unique opportunities for recipients to travel and to study Frank Lloyd Wright’s remarkable drawings, buildings, and landscapes. From community planning to experiments with low-cost housing to major institutional projects such as the Guggenheim Museum in New York, Wright’s visionary work continues to inspire.
